Purdue University VEX U Midwest Qualifying Tournament

February 22nd, 2019 - West Lafayette, IN

UNL VEX U Robotics made the long drive down to Indiana to participate our largest, most competitive tournament of the season.

Armed with our competitive spirit and hundreds of hours of hard work, team members represented the University well by bringing home awards for Skills Champion and Tournament Finalist, as well as the Design Award. Our performance in the skills challenge at this competition has placed us as the #2 university team in the world, an accomplishment we are very proud of!

Losing to Purdue in the championship match of this competition has provided us a with a great opportunity to learn and improve our robots. Purdue is an incredibly talented team, and we will be implementing some of their programming innovations to compete at an even higher level at Worlds!

Northeast Community College VEX U Competition

February 9th, 2019 - Norfolk, NE

UNL VEX U Robotics took home a win at our first competition of the season! Little Bot and Big Bot worked together to bring home awards for Tournament Champion and Skills Champion, as well as clinching the worlds-qualifying Excellence award!

This competition was an amazing learning experience for our team. We saw innovative new designs from our competitors, honed effective strategies, and highlighted many areas in which we can improve.

Currently, UNL VEX U holds the record for Skills score among universities in the United States, which is something we’ll build upon as we continue with the season!

Elkhorn High School Tournament
December 1st, 2018 - Elkhorn, NE

Thirteen members of the UNL VEX U Robotics Club spent their Saturday volunteering at the Elkhorn High School Tournament hosted by Grandview Middle School.

Team members served as referees, scorekeepers, and inspectors. Each individual studied up on rule specifics and then took (and passed) a relevant quiz to ensure they could do the best job possible! The event was 80s themed so we tried to be groovy.

We believe that supporting the robotics community at the primary and secondary education levels is so important for the continued flourishing of the scene, and we are more than happy to give our time.

September 25, 2018 - Lincoln, NE

Members of the UNL VEX U Robotics Club had the opportunity to participate in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's first ever Reverse Career Fair at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, NE.

The event took place shortly before the start of the STEM career fair in that location, and provided the opportunity for university clubs to show off their work to area employers.

Team members set up a booth with a display of our robot and a short promotional video, then spent the next few hours greeting employers and explaining what our club does and how it operates.

23rd Nebraska Engineering Golf Scramble

September 14th, 2018 - Omaha, NE

UNL VEX U team members had a blast volunteering at Nebraska Engineering's annual Golf Scramble. We got some sun and helped raise money for this year's beneficiary, Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln.

2018 CREATE Open

April 2nd-7th, 2018 - Council Bluffs, IA

Members of the UNL VEX U Robotics team spent their time volunteering as scorekeepers, referees, and field help at the CREATE Open this past weekend. Hosted by the CREATE Foundation, the Open is a massive, national competition featuring 150+ teams from across the country.

It's so important to give time back to the local robotics scene that enables communities such as ours to exist and develop, and our club is happy to do its part.

CREATE was generous enough to allow us to do a few skills challenge runs during some downtime, which we put to good use!

Purdue VEX U Winter Vortex Challenge

February 24, 2018 - Purdue, ID

Eleven members of the UNL VEX U Robotics Club trekked nine hours down to Purdue, home of Boiler Robotics, to participate in our very first college competition.

Despite stiff competition, we came in 8th place out of a total of seventeen teams.

Being able to test our robot against such a talented group of teams was a great opportunity for us to learn, and we will be making the Purdue competition a staple event in our rotation.
